Hawley Lake is home to a number of different Radio Sailing / Model Yacht groups that operate year-round.
Most groups race International One Metre, 10 Raters, or Marblehead Radio Controlled yachts. The groups are not generally competitive and aim to have fun! So the emphasis is on enjoying some relaxed but keen racing, cheerful banter and sharing skills.
If you have sailed full size dinghies you will soon pick up the skills. Boats are not required to be officially measured as such, but owners are encouraged to only race the IOM 1m design.
Radio sailors with their own boat will need to ensure they carry appropriate insurance for their craft, in line with Club regulations.
